The BSGDs’ Junior College of Commerce, Arts and Science is honoured to celebrate the achievement of our student Hetavi Vinay Shah from the Arts section. Through her passion and hard work she has been making waves on the open water marathon circuit, inspiring at every step of the way, bouncing back from injuries and taking the societal stereotypes head-on.

Here are some of her accomplishments:

In the JITO Games organised for the Mumbai Zone on 10th April, 2022, she won four Gold Medals in Freestyle, Breaststrokes, Backstroke and Butterfly.

She went on to win three Silver Medals in Freestyle, Backstroke and Butterfly and a Bronze Medal in Breaststrokes at the JITO National Championship 2022 organised at the Jaypee Atlantic Club in Noida from 27th to 29th May, 2022.

Hetavi then went on to participate in the Gujarat Foundation Day Open Water Swimming Competition at Sharmistha Lake in Vadnagar, Gujrat on 1st May, 2022 and secured 3rd place in 2000 meters race and 3rd place in the 800 meters race.

She was also felicitated at under the category ‘Women's power in sports’ at the 7th WOMEN POWER SUMMIT & AWARDS at BSE International Convention Hall, Mumbai on 7th May, 2022.

She secured 3rd place in the 10 km Powerpeaks championship 2022 at Kasarsai Dam, Pune. On 8th May, 2022.

Hetavi was awarded the Atal National Youth Award 2022 at Pune on 22th May, 2022 by the Governor Shri Bhagat Singh Koshyariji for Sports - Open Water Swimming at Raj Bhavan, Mumbai.

Through her success, Hetavi has become an excellent role model for young girls, sports women & athletes of all genders across the country. We hope she goes on to be a trailblazer in all her future endeavours.
